MAN JAILED FOR STEALING FROM 10 VEHICLES
KOTA KINABALU:
A local man was jailed a total of 18 months by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for 10 charges of stealing properties from vehicles.
Magistrate Dana Arabi Wazani imposed the sentence on Abdul Muin Edilis, 18, after he pleaded guilty to all the charges each under Section 379 of the Penal Code which provides a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, or both, on conviction.
For the first charge, Abdul Muin was jailed three months for stealing Paulus Saimi’s hand phone and RM100 from a Kancil vehicle which was parked near Maybank in Kampung Air about 5am on Oct 10.
The second charge landed Abdul Muin in jail for one month for stealing Chung Shiau Wei’s laptop from another Kancil vehicle parked in front of Milimewa Superstore in Jalan Pantai about 10. 3Opm on Oct 17.
He was jailed another one month for stealing Mohd Ramlee Mohd Talib’s hand phone from a Perodua Viva parked at the back of Wisma Merdeka about 6pm on Oct 7.
For the fourth charge, Abdul Muin was jailed three months for stealing Gleen Jerrv James Mindong’s laptop and pendrive altogether worth RM2,500 from a Toyota Hilux vehicle about 9pm on Nov 13.
The accused was jailed one month for the fifth charge of stealing documents and house and office keys from a Kelisa car which was parked at the back of Hyatt Hotel here about 6.3Opm on Oct 21.
For the sixth charge, he was jailed two months for stealing Liau Heng Yi’s cloth bag from a Kancil vehicle parked near Upper Star in Segama here.
He admitted to committing the offence with an accomplice who is still at large about 7pm on Nov 11.
Abdul Muin was jailed another two months for the seventh charge of stealing Ann o. Mail’s RM600 cash, a gold chain and another item altogether worth RM2,000 from a Kelisa vehicle parked at the back of Burger King in Segama about 10.3Opm on Oct 30.
For the eight charge, the accused was sentenced to one month’s jail for stealing Juli bt Battin’s laptop worth RM2,334 from a Gen2 vehicle parked at the back of CIMB bank in Jalan Gaya here about 2.5Opm on Oct 27.
The accused was jailed another three months for stealing Azizah bt Abdul Kadi’s personal documents, a laptop and RM45 cash altogether worth RM2,000 from a Kancil vehicle parked near at a KFC outlet in Segama here at about 10pm on Oct 24.
Meanwhile for the 10th charge, Abdul Muin was jailed one month for stealing Josli Kalumpang’s clothes and documents valued at RM268 from an Isuzu Trooper vehicle parked at the back of Burger King in Segama about 4. l5pm on Oct 27.
According to the facts of the case, the accused stole all the items by breaking the windows of the vehicles or forcing open the doors.
The Magistrate ordered all the sentences to run consecutively.
