RM221,000 in car stolen

A 39-year-old local businessman lodged a Police report saying that two men stole the RM22 1,000 in cash which he had just withdrawn from a bank and left in his car. The victim, identified only as Voo, said the thieves smashed a window of his car while it was parked at Perdana Club here on Monday. The victim said he withdrew the money from the Public Bank here and put it in a bag before hiding it under the car’s front seat and entering the Club to meet his wife. Ten minutes later, he was informed by the security guard there that the window of his car had been broken by two men with helmets. The men had come on a motorcycle. District Police Chief ACP Jaafar Bin Yusof said the victim claimed that the rear tyre of his car was slashed while the bag containing the money missing. “It is believed that he had withdrawn the money to pay his workers. Police are investigating the case under Section 379 of the Penal Code,” Jaafar said.
