TANAB MERAN:

The taciturn attitude of Mohd Zuki Mohd Nawi, 37, has caused his family to be dumbfounded and clueless as to why he was shot dead in southern Thailand on Sunday. He had always been quiet and uncommunicative. He never told his problems even if we asked him about it. We do not know what caused him such a fate,” he told reporters when met at his home in Kampung Bendang Gok, here yesterday. Mohd Nawi said Mohd Zuki who had been divorced twice, married for the third time to a Thai woman about eight years ago and was operating a textile business with the new wife in southern Thailand. Nor Aklima, 15, Mohd Zuki’s daughter from the first marriage, has been living with the grandparents since she was little. In the 11am incident on Sunday, Mohd Zuki was shot dead while having his motorcycle repaired at a workshop in Sungai Golok town. He took several bullets in the chest and neck and died on the spot. Kelantan Police Deputy Chief, SAC II Amir Hamzah Ibrahim, when contacted, confirmed that the victim’s death was due to random shots fired by a group of men on a motorcycle and in a car. However, the motive of the incident was still being probed with the cooperation of the Thai police, he added. - Bernama
