Teenager dies after assault in bus

SANDAKAN:

A teenager died after he was assaulted by a group of people in a bus at Mile 18 Labuk Road here yesterday. District Police Chief ACP Rosli Mohd Isa said the 19-year-ok victim, Jay Siprinaus, died at the scene. Jay, who worked in an oil palm plantation, was on the way to his home at Mile 19 from the town when the incident happened about 1.3Opm. When the bus stopped at Mile 18 to pick up passengers, a group of teenagers boarded and assaulted the victim. The bus driver and some of the passengers fled when they saw what had happened. The bus driver in his 20s later lodged a police report on the incident. Rosli said the police found a piece of wood, a piece of iron and a knife believed to be the murder weapons. The victim was already dead when a team of police arrived at the scene. His body was sent to the Duchess of Kent Hospital for postmortem. Rosli added the police had identified several suspects and were looking for them.
