Semporna Youth Head poll referred to Liaison Committee

The allegation that there were more ballot papers compared to the number of delegates in the election for the Semporna Umno Youth Head on Saturday would be referred to the Sabah Umno Liaison Committee for a decision. Semporna Umno Division Head Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said that a slight technical problem cropped up at the delegates conference that began at about 2pm on Saturday and ended at about 7.30 yesterday morning. As such, he said he was leaving it to the State Umno Liaison Body to decide whether the meeting should be held again or otherwise. Shafie said this to reporters after opening the Semporna Umno division delegates meeting, near here yesterday, adding that no final decision had been made on the post of the Division’s Youth Head. In the election for the Semporna Youth Head on Saturday, incumbent Dixon Abd Habi succeeded in defending his post but there were protests from the delegates who claimed that there were more ballot papers compared to the number of delegates present. The Youth Vice-Head post was won by Abd Aziz Ibno. The division’s Youth leadership, however, unanimously nominated Khairy Jarnaluddin to contest the post of national Youth Head in the Party elections in March. - Bernama
